The girls’ soccer team lost big on October 12 and 13. They came out 4-0 against North Tahoe, and 8-0 against Truckee. Both teams are two of the best in the league.
“Truckee is number one in the league, so they’re one of the toughest teams that we face all year long,” said coach Ed Partee. “North Tahoe is probably one of the toughest teams in the league as well. I think they’re ranked third right now. They’re also a tough team to go up against.”
Despite the disheartening score, the team played well against North Tahoe, proving that you don’t have to win to have a good game.
“They moved to the ball well, and they stayed on their mark,” said Partee. “They played an excellent game that day.”
For some of the girls on defense, the game was particularly exemplary.
“Our defense was really good about backing each other up,” said Partee. “They played well there.”
In their game against Truckee, the team kept their heads, even through their struggles.
“Once we talked about who they had to cover, the girls did that well. They didn’t give up the entire game and kept up strong,” said Partee.
The team has a lot to improve on before the end of the season.
“We’re going to work on playing more of a zone defense on some of those teams that shift around the field a lot,” said Partee. “We’re still working on shots and trying to make goals. There are individual players who are doing well, and there are still some players who have some things to work on and learn. That’ll come with time.”
On October 19, the Bucks will host South Tahoe on their home field.
