Do you know how it feels to get made fun of or always be the outcast? Everyone has been picked on at least once in their lifetime. Why do people feel the need to put down and bully another person?
Bullying can affect everyone. Those who are bullied, those who bully, and those who witness bullying. Bullying is associated with many outcomes including impacts on mental health, substance abuse, suicide, depression and anxiety, decreased academic achievement, school participation, etc.
Why do people bully others? Some people will have family issues. Families that don’t love their kids, cause him/her to put down someone else just because they’ve been victims themselves.
Lack of attention from friends, parents, and teachers can cause a person to bully.
Some kids have learned bullying from others (parents, brothers or sisters, friends). They have seen them getting their way by being angry or pushing other people around. They believe that by putting fear in you, you will have the best shot at everything in school or in your neighborhood.
Watching a lot of violent films and video games can make a person try violent behavior.
They usually try it on people who appear smaller and weaker to them.
All these things can lead to bullying.
These outcomes can deeply hurt someone and you would never even realize it because they will probably never stand up for themselves.
If you are a bully yourself, actually think about it. Put yourself in their shoes. Would you like to be the one that always gets picked on every single day? Instead, try being a better person and leave them alone. No one should ever get bullied or have low self-esteem about themselves.
Appreciate everyone around you and have some respect for others and their personal things. Everybody is equal; a person can never be lower than another.
Say someone can be a huge smoker and another person a well-known, smart, athletic kid. That doesn’t change anything. The smoker could be the brightest kid to others and the popular kid could always be a jerk. You will never know what comes from a person. Show more respect, to others and yourself so you can make a change not only in yourself but in society as well.
