On January 22, the Nevada Department of Education released graduation rates for all of the districts in Nevada.
Lowry High School’s graduation rate has improved significantly since 2013 and even more since 2012.
Lowry right now is standing at a 78.45% graduation rate. Since 2013 Lowry has risen 11.39% (67.06%) and a 14.96% increase since 2012 (63.49%).
Not only is this a big accomplishment for the school, but there are also only 5 out of the 17 schools that reported higher graduation rates than Lowry. This is a big accomplishment because last year 15 out of 17 reported higher graduation rates than Lowry.
Lowry is also expected to have an 82.22% graduation rate which will be a 13% rise since 2014.
Mr. Ray Parks, Lowry’s Principal, admired the staff’s hard work in helping increase the graduation rate.
“A combination of hard work by our entire staff, a willingness by our students to make sure they earn their credits and Mrs. Johnson’s credit remediation program has helped our graduation rates rise,” said Parks. “The key is to keep them rising year after year.”
Along with Jensen focusing on kids starting in kindergarten, Parks focuses more on teenagers who have fallen behind.
“As we continue to focus on the concept of ‘graduation starts in kindergarten’ and ensure we are fully tracking all students that enter/leave Humboldt County,” said Superintendent Dr. David Jensen by Email.
“I am confident we will continue to make continued growth. Thanks for all that each of you do and congratulations,” said Jensen.
