He-Man volleyball another success for seniors

He-Man volleyball another success for seniors

Usually, looking at a bunch of boys in tank tops and shorts isn’t the most appealing way to spend a Tuesday evening, or any evening for that matter. But many showed up to watch the freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors go head to head to see which class is the best at he-man volleyball. The freshman team took last place, the sophomores got third, the juniors got second, and the senior class was awarded first place. So the class of 2016, at least the boys, can now say that they are, in fact, the best he-man volleyball players in Lowry High School.

For most freshmen, it was their first time playing competitive volleyball. Many weren’t happy with the last placement, but some saw it coming.

“It (the game) was pretty fun, but the freshman could have done better,” Josiah Chapman said. “We didn’t really work as hard as we should have. We could have beaten the sophomores, but we have a lot of people who goof around, like me.”

The seniors, on the other hand, were very proud of their victory.

“The game was fabulous. It was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed killing everyone out there,” Jorge Bernal said. “No, I’m just kidding, it was actually a pretty good competition.”

Like the freshman, some sophomores and juniors were not all that happy about the results of the game.

“The game was pretty good, but we should have beaten the seniors,” said Dylan Kalkoske. “It was a very close and fun game. It was very exciting and very hyped up. Our class could have talked more and been more of a team, but of course, we’re going to win next time.”

Even though the seniors were ultimately the he-man champions, some who lost were still optimistic and had a positive outlook on the game.

“Well, we lost, but we did well,” said Evan Jeppsen. “We could have taken practice more seriously. Instead of messing around all the time, we could have actually listened to the coaches. But hopefully next time we’re going to apply those corrections and hopefully do better. But overall, I’m proud of how we did, especially because it was our first time.”

The He-Man game was definitely a success for all classes, no matter what placement they all received, and hopefully, the boys will be able to live down the crop tops and short shorts.
