The girls’ basketball program is a strong one; the varsity team has been Regional Champions the last three years in a row and won state in 2014. The varsity team has multiple returning girls and some girls new to the varsity level. So far this season, they are 6-1, making for a good start to the season.
“So far, I think this season has gone really well,” said Tiana Herrera. “We’ve had some highs and some lows, but we’ve always been able to bounce back. I think that is one thing that is so special about this team, we don’t give up.”
Their last game was against Spring Creek, which resulted in a win, 50-44.
“We didn’t play our best, and there are things we need to work on, but we played hard and didn’t give up and got a good win,” said Kenadee Jeppsen.
It’s just the beginning of the season, and the Lady Bucks have a lot to look forward to.

“I think our strengths are that we all get along,” szaid Hannah Hillyer. “There’s no drama. And it’s nice to just have fun and laugh and play basketball.”
As they continue with their season, they have lots of practice ahead of them and a tournament in Reno the week after Christmas.
“These next few weeks, we are aiming to fine-tune the little things and work to play more in sync with each other,” said Tiana Herrera. “We have so many talented girls on the team, and when we learn how to put all of our individual talents together, it will be a really great thing to see.”
The girls’ next league game is against Elko on January 3. Their first home game of the season is January 6 against Sparks.
