Freshmen Anthony Barber led the way with two touchdowns in an impressive 28-20 win.
Lowry started off the day fast, putting up 7 points in the first quarter and controlling the tempo of the game on the defensive. Lowry did not allow a single score in the first quarter.
“We had then figured out for the most part, they got away with one trick play but after we pretty much stopped them,” said freshman Evan Jeppsen.
The game was shared with JV, so the teams split quarters. The freshman scored 22 of the team’s 28 points and only gave up 6 points while they were on the field.
The freshman played great on defense, making many fourth-down stops that led to points on their next drive.
“We knew their offense and how it worked which made it easier for our linebackers to read their plays, we also had a very good stop at the goal line that led to a ninety-five-yard touchdown pass,” said Jeppsen.
Offensively the freshman did almost whatever they wanted to running and passing the ball, Lovelock looked dazed and confused the entire game.
“We were able to run down the middle which made Lovelock focus their defense inside, making it easier for us to run outside and pass as well,” explained Jeppsen
The last time Lowry played Lovelock they lost, so what was the difference between this game and that game?
“We came into the game confident that we were going to beat them, in the first game we made lots of little mistakes that ultimately cost us the game,” said Jeppsen.
Overall it was a huge step forward for the Bucks and with Varsity struggling this year it looks like they have some promising athletes that will be moving up next year.
