The Lowry girls’ freshman basketball team started their season on the road at Battle Mountain in a JV tournament.

Against the older competition, they played well but went 1-3 with their only win coming against Carlin’s varsity team.

“We played pretty well against those JV teams. It was really fun getting to be out there and get some experience against older girls,” said Celeste Esquivel.

The first game they played was against White Pine which they lost. The next game was against Tonapah which they happened to lose.

On Saturday they played again and beat Carlin’s varsity team. After that win, they played again against Eureka and lost that game also.

“The games we lost were pretty tough games they were fun though,” said Esquivel.

The girls are back in action on December 14 when they host the Sparks Railroaders.
