Lowry holds parent-teacher conferences

The Humboldt County School District had parent-teacher conferences on March 25-27. What is a “parent-teacher conference” you ask? This is the chance for parents and teachers to sit down and have a chat about the child of the parents in question. More specifically about how the child is doing in school.

What does this mean for the students? For one, they receive three half days. Also, they get to talk to their teachers in tandem with their parents or guardians about what is happening in school.

What does this mean for the parents? At home, they only really get the account of the student of their school day. This is their chance to get a second opinion from none other than the person who is mentoring their child.

Mr. Bryan Mahoney, a teacher at Lowry High School, explained that he “appreciated the respectful attitude and the parent was delighted to see the students’ progress”.

What does this mean for the teachers? For some, there is the solace of the half-day thing. For most, it is a chance to tell the parents about how the student is doing in class. This is also an opportunity to try to find solutions to problems the students may be having.
