Lowry’s Cross Country team ended their season on Saturday, November 4, at the NIAA 3A State Championship.
Runners Hunter Albisu, Rebecca Kuskie, Robert Rangel, and Will Kracaw qualified for state at the NIAA Northern 3A Regional Championship on October 27, where the boys’ team placed fourth.
At state, Kracaw placed 7th, Rangel 10th, and Albisu 39th in the boys’ race, and Kuskie placed 3rd in the girls’ race.
“State was an unbelievable experience, and I am so privileged to have gone,” said Rangel. “It went really well for the team and me. Granted, we all didn’t have the best times, but we had a blast.”
Going to State Championships was an exciting way to end an even more exciting season. The team also competed in the Bob Firman Invitational Races in Boise, Idaho, among other places.
“I’d say that our biggest achievements this year have been individual,” said coach Kristin Flanders. “They’ve really worked at improving every race, and setting their personal goals and achieving them.”

“We became closer as friends, had fun, and became stronger both physically and mentally this season,” said Rangel.
The team looks forward to an even more exciting season next year.
“We’re excited for next year because we’re really close to having a boys team compete and go to state, and we’re looking forward to having a full girls team next year,” said Flanders.
