Coach Andrew Meyer chose Maddex Hislop as the Student-Athlete of the Week because he is always at practice and shows effort.
“He always shows up with a good attitude and a want to be at practice,” said Meyer.
Hislop believes that his efforts are finally paying off as he went to state again for the second year in a row.
“I always try to show up, and it’s paying off, I think,” said Hislop. “I made it to state again, where I didn’t do too badly.”
Hislop is also showing improvement from last year, and this stuck out to Coach Meyer.
“He has improved a good amount from last year, and I think he might do even better next year,” said Meyer.
Hislop thinks his playing style can be credited to his love of the sport and his drive to be better.
“I really like golf and the way it’s played,” said Hislop. “I really like the game, and I think that’s why I am always trying to be better.”
Hislop went to the state and took 5th place.
