In an anonymous poll teachers and staff voted for the staff member they thought deserved the honor of Staff Member of the Year. During the morning announcements, Ms. Mandi Whitted was proclaimed the Staff Member of the Year and was also recognized at the annual district dinner.
Mandi Whitted receives the unexpected award with gratitude and humility.
“Shocked and thankful,” said Mandi Whitted. “I was surprised I got it, sometimes you feel like nobody knows what you do. I feel like other people are more deserving than me.”
Instead of the work she does, Whitted enjoys the people she encounters at work.
“The majority of the staff and the kids, some of the staff are funny, some of the kids are funny,” said Whitted.
Vice Principal Tim Connors described the different roles Whitted takes on each day and has to take on when needed.
“Mandi Whitted has many different hats at Lowry High School,” said Connors. “She does a great deal of work for the athletic department with making arrangements for travel, grade checks, final forms as well as filling in certain spots in the nurse’s office, attendants office, and main office.”
Connors praised Whitted for her hard work and dedication throughout the school year.
“She’s unbelievably dedicated toward doing the best she can,” said Connors. “Most importantly her integrity speaks for itself as she is a great person.”
