National Honor Society inducts new members

National Honors Society has carefully selected new members to help out the community and the schools. These students must have a 3.5 GPA or higher to maintain their membership.

“I feel like a leader because we do a lot of events that lead us to being a better community,” said sophomore Brooklyn Waller.

National Honor Society Inductees of 2014 are Brooklyn Backus, Estefani  Barocio, Jose Bernal, Aimee Brandon, Alyssa Campbell,  Nicolas Espinola, Annaleise Gabica, Melany Gomez, Madison Hammargren, Shaelyn Hammargren, Samantha Hernandez, Amaya Herrera, Tiana Herrera, Hannah Hillyer, Veronica Jones, Cristina Lopez, Carmen Lozano, Dillon Maestrejuan, Madison Montero, Darrin Nelson, Lindsay Pate, Salvador Perez, Michael Rangel,  Elise Rose, Araceli Ruiz, Olivia Silva, Mikeas Somers, Jacy Urain,  Brooklyn Waller, Liam Walls, Josh Warner, Jacob Welty, Zach White, Mikayla Wilke, and Kailynn Yetter.

“We are expecting the new members to help out to make the program better than it is now,” said member Kyle Schultz.

The members are selected based on character, leadership qualities, and their grades. After writing an essay, they are evaluated by the faculty group. Their goal is to better the community and give back to the school as well as create a positive learning environment.

“We are excited to have the new members in Honors Society to add to the numbers and increase our activities,” said member Meg Montero.
