In a recent Press Release, Press Secretary Jay Carney was asked about the recent violence in Afghanistan, when five Americans were killed over the weekend, and if President Obama was having second thoughts about having the American Soldiers leave in 2014.
Well, first of all, our thoughts and prayers go out to those who lost their lives, both military personnel as well as civil personnel, as well as to those who were wounded. What is absolutely the case is Afghanistan remains a very violent place. It is also true that we have made great strides in our efforts to train up the Afghanistan National Security Forces as they take increasing responsibility for the security in their country, and that process continues.
