The Lowry varsity girls soccer team was defeated by South Tahoe 4-0 on Friday, November 7. The girls played a tough game, as well as a tough season.
“We played a good game. We held them for a long time, and they beat us for the first time. We played really hard then the past times we have played them and we tried really hard, but they are just a really good team,” said senior player Iridiana Gonzalez.
South Tahoe plays soccer year-round. Lowry only plays in the fall.
“They’re an all-season team, so they practice and play all year round. We did really well for being a season team. We beat Elko this season, which is the first time in Lowry’s history for soccer. It was such a good season, and we even shut Spring Creek out,” said Monique Rodriguez.
The girls showed much improvement from the beginning of the year and played really well. Monique Rodriquez led the team in goals this season with 15. Bailey Sapien followed Rodgriguez with 6 goals. Rodriguez also led in assists with 7. Mostly all of the girls were on the score sheet. Lowry finished off the season with 8-6-2.
