Student-Athlete of the Issue: Brady Lange

Brady Lange, also known as Julio in Ms. Godinez’s class, is the winter boys’ Student-Athlete of the Issue.

Lange has played basketball and football all four years of high school, accompanied by a year of baseball his freshman year. Lange has been a part of the varsity football team for two years, where he earned a starting position as the quarterback and a wide receiver. Lange has completed one season at the varsity level for basketball and is currently finishing his second.

Lange is hopeful that his basketball team can go far into the postseason.

“It is a little too early to tell who our biggest competitor is this year,” said Lange. “Elko always comes out with a great team. Our team is young this year, but it will benefit the program in years to come. I think with a lot of hard work, we can put pressure on any team.”

Lange dedicates himself to the field and the court and has a wonderful support system.

“My family has always pushed me to be the best I can,” said Lange. “My dad was always on my back, telling me things I need to correct and ways I can better myself. If it weren’t for him, I would not be the athlete I am today.”

Lange also credits his mother as his biggest supporter.

“My mom has always been my biggest fan,” said Lange. “She comes to every game and is always proud of me, no matter the situation.”

Outside of being a Lowry athlete, Brady is known as a stand-up guy. He is mostly seen with his best friend, Jacob Hernandez, at his side.

“My favorite memory from high school sports is all of the friendships I have made,” said Lange. “I was brought into a brotherhood, and that is something that I will be able to cherish for the rest of my life. Without sports, I would not have half of the friendships I have today.”

Lange does not see himself continuing his athletic career at the next level.

“I have considered playing a sport in college and still am,” said Lange. “I want to worry more about my education while I am at college, though. Playing at the next level is still an option for me, but it is still undecided.”

Lange will most likely be attending the University of Nevada, Reno next fall to further his education, assuming he does not extend his athletic career somewhere else.
