Thomas Schwartz is a starting guard for the varsity basketball team, a running back for the varsity football team, and he is a 4.0 student.
Thomas has been playing basketball, football, and baseball since he was young and says that his family is what inspired him to play high school sports.
“A lot of people inspired me to play sports, basically my whole family from my aunts to my uncles and cousins who have played sports at Lowry,” said Schwartz
Schwartz is a senior this year and it is his last year playing high school sports, he says the one thing he will miss the most is his friends and the crowds.
“The thing I will probably miss the most is getting to play with all my friends and guys that I have been playing everything from basketball to football, and baseball for my entire life. I will also miss playing in front of the great crowds that we get at Lowry,” revealed Schwartz.
Thomas has had a great season this year for basketball and he said he loves playing as a senior and finally getting his chance to start and play with his fellow seniors. While Thomas said that he really looked up to last year’s seniors, he was excited to be able to compete this year with his close friends.
“I would have to say that this season was the best season of basketball I’ve ever played, last year was a lot of fun with the seniors but this year was my favorite,” said Schwartz.
Schwartz loves the competitive aspects of games and of course, winning.
“I love the competitiveness of games and I like the feeling after a game when you played well, it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside,” said Schwartz.
Thomas scored 71 points this season for basketball and is a valuable member of the team and they will need to lean on his passing and basketball IQ if they want to stand a chance in the playoffs. Thomas also has 17 steals this year and prides himself on his stout defense.
For football, Thomas had 45 carries for 355 and also added a touchdown to his season totals. Schwartz also was a stout defender in football, he had 58 tackles, 4 passes defended, and a fumble recovery.
Overall Thomas is a great student and athlete, he puts in the time in the classroom and on the field in order to get better academically and athletically. Thomas will be missed not only by the teachers and coaches of Lowry but also by the students who he has impacted during his time here.
