Alexus Gomez was chosen as the Student-Athlete of the Week for varsity softball by coach Austin Mayo.
Gomez has improved immensely this season.
Gomez is an excellent player who does very well on the field.
“She is our number one catcher, plays great defensively, and commands our pitching staff well,” said Mayo. “ I expect a lot out of her, and she responds well to that pressure and expectation.”
Gomez is happy with the memories she has made as a team.
“I enjoy the memories I have made with the players and coaches,” said Gomez.
Gomez hopes that the young team can come together to get the job done.
“There’s a lot of changes from this year to last, a lot of people have come up, and it’s just a matter of learning what everyone needs to do and how to do it,” said Gomez.
Mayo is proud of her hitting abilities.
“Her bat has started to come alive as well, which is a big plus,” said Mayo.
