This week, for the girl’s varsity soccer head coach Melanie Rasor picked Alyssa Campbell as Athlete of the Week.
Campbell plays a defensive position and she works hard every game to protect the team from getting scored on. When watching a game you would know exactly what I am talking about. Campbell gets beat up, but I have never seen her give up.
“She is a leader in our soccer program. She has been performing really well in the back defensive position. Campbell always displays positive sportsmanship and has always treated opponents and officials with respect. She brings dedication and you can always count on her to give a hundred percent. Campbell also plays very smart which makes her a great defender,” said Rasor.
Campbell’s teammates couldn’t agree more.
“Alyssa is one of our strongest defenders, I can always count on her,” said Bailey Sapien.
Campbell was honored to receive Student-Athlete of the Week. Her favorite thing about playing soccer is being able to make unforgettable memories and play every game with her teammates.
“They are all some of the greatest people I have ever met,” said Campbell.
“The hardest thing about my position is knowing I’m the last line of defense before the goal, and it is hard getting taken out constantly. I definitely plan to improve on my passing and my overall defensive skills,” said Campbell.
Campbell and the rest of the team have big things planned for the next couple of games before playoffs.
