Student-Athlete of the Week: Amanda Draper

By Araceli Galarza Posted February 21, 2019

Amanda Draper was chosen as the freshman girls’ Student-Athlete of the Week by coach Larry Renteria. The freshmen team has worked very hard this season; they have fewer players than normal, but they rose to the challenge. Amanda has risen to this challenge.

“Ms. Draper is the hardest-working player on the team. Her effort is second to none. She leads by example in nearly every minute of practice and in nearly every minute of the game,” said coach Renteria. “When she does let off, she is quick to take feedback, make adjustments, and get right back after the task or game.”

Amanda plays point guard on and off. She hopes to make varsity next year. She, however, knows that in order to do that, she will need to put in some work.

“I could work on ball-handling skills. And I hope to improve my shooting by going to the gym and working on it,” said Amanda Draper.
