Wrestler Chris Karchella was selected as this week’s Student-Athlete of the Week by coach Brant Corak for his exemplary performance in the Northern Duals.
Corak said Karchella’s performance in the duals was key to winning.
“Chris went undefeated at the Northern 1A Duals making him the #1 seed at our League Tournament. He also secured a team victory over Fallon by winning by a major decision in the last match of the dual,” said Corak.
Karchella said that being selected as Student-Athlete of the Week felt fine and that he just “went out and Jack Foured [sic] some kids.”
Karchella said that during the season there have been some rough patches here and there but the team used it as motivation to become better. He is looking forward to zone saying, “I think we will have to just go out there and go for the pins.”
Karchella and the rest of the varsity team will wrestle in Churchill County for regionals on Friday and Saturday, February 12 and 13.
