Student-Athlete of the Week: Colin Doyle

Colin Doyle, Student-Athlete of the Week, is a two-sport athlete. He is a varsity football and baseball player. Coaches chose Doyle because of his great game last weekend March 13 and 14, against the Sparks Railroaders. Despite the team coming out with losses he pitched well.

“He pitched on both Friday and Saturday and threw a lot of pitches and really kept us in the game and gave us the opportunity to win,” said coach Ron Espinola.

One of the most important traits of a good athlete is the ability to keep playing and keeping calm despite the situation. That is a trait Doyle has, he pitched an inning with his zipper down. If the initial embarrassment of figuring that out isn’t enough, imagine being mocked by your own team for it. That’s a strong-minded player if you’ve ever seen one.

“He pitched an entire inning in Sparks with his zipper down and that takes a special kind of athlete to perform with that kind of wardrobe malfunction,” said Espinola.
