Garrett Hinshaw was chosen by coach Austin Mayo as Student-Athlete of the Week.
Hinshaw has really stepped up to the plate the last couple of weeks when he was asked to play quarterback.
“He had to step up and play the quarterback, even though he has never played that spot at this high a level,” said Mayo.
Hinshaw took over in the Fernley game and led Lowry back, even though the Bucks lost 27-21. JV football then played Battle Mountain on September 19, and the Bucks won 42-0; their first victory of the year.
Coach Mayo does not regret putting Henshaw in as the backup quarterback since he proved that he will work hard.
“He has really shown the team and our coaches that he deserves this spot because he has tried his hardest and won our first victory,” said Mayo.
“Since this was the first time playing as the quarterback at this high of a level, I was super nervous but also very excited because I got Lowry’s first win,” said Hinshaw.
