JV boys coach, Grant Beatty, chose Zach Fernandez as Student-Athlete of the Week for what he brings to the team.
“He played great at the Reno tournament and his first home game,” said Beatty. “He has been a leader. On the practice floor, a lot more vocal than he has in the past. He’s been much more aggressive with his shot…does like he always does, get us out on offense by spreading the floor. Playing great defense and putting everyone else in great positions to win.”
Fernandez has been playing since the second grade and has continued to play. From the beginning of the season, he has seen improvement.
“At the beginning of the season, we struggled a little bit with working together, but after just a short few weeks, it has improved so much,” said Fernandez. “The season so far has been super fun. We all work hard at practice and games. I think we will have a really good year. I hope to improve my shooting as well as finishing at the hoop.”
