Lowry’s track team acquired a new coach this year, who happens to be a Social Studies teacher at our school, Grant Beatty. Track and field is a sport, like many others, that requires lots of endurance and mental strength. These characteristics are being shown in two particular athletes and are the reason why they have been chosen for Student-Athletes of the Week.

Kuskie is always positive, no matter what she works on, and continues to improve in her own personal records.

“Becca recorded a time of 5:33 in the 1500 at the Northwest Invitational at McQueen, which is a PR for her. She is one of the top sophomores in the North, and she really does a great job of preparing herself, staying mentally focused, and improving each and every practice. She has a tremendous work ethic,” said Beatty.

Kepler has also shown improvement both personally and for the team.

“In the High Jump, Nathan recorded a height of 5’9” and took second overall at the Northwest Invitational @ McQueen. His jump of 5’9” was a new PR (personal record). He is improving each week and has a lot of potential as a jumper,” said Beatty.

Beatty has goals for his team as well as hopes for more school spirit.

“The season has been great so far,” said Beatty. “All the athletes are working hard, improving, and having fun. We hope to finish strong in regionals and state. We have the Lowry home meet coming up on the 29th of this month (April). Come check out the athletes and support your school.”
