The boys’ varsity basketball came out 30 points ahead in Carson on January 3. With a win of 68-38, the boys are holding their heads up high following their major victory, just as they did in the game.
“They were pretty tough since they were a 4A school, but I think we handled it really well,” said guard Max Mavity. “We didn’t come into the game scared.”
The boys didn’t come off the court with only a smashing win, but with various personal and team victories as well.
“We played a lot better team defense, and we moved the ball a lot better on offense,” said Mavity.
Even after such a huge accomplishment, the team is always looking to improve wherever they can.
“We’re going to work on our man defense, so we don’t get beat towards the middle, but it’s looking pretty good in practice,” said Mavity.
Elko remains in first with a 7-0 streak, and the boys are now tied with Churchill County for second place.
“We’re 5-1 in the league right now, and we’re hoping to beat Fallon this week,” said Mavity.
The team will play the Green Wave on Friday, January 11.
