This year’s cross country team has had a great season overall.

Coach Kathy Norcutt is proud of the girls in XC. Most runners beat their personal records.

“In the JV girls meet, Jovi Kuskie took first, followed by Kinsey Albisu in 7th (with a personal record) and Alethea Houston in 10th (also with a PR),” said Norcutt. “All the girls won medals. On the varsity side, Becca Kuskie was 3rd overall, running a new PR.”

The boy’s JV team had a great home meet.

“The boy’s JV had Jeremy Walker finishing 5th and Cal Peters in 10th, so they both won medals,” said Norcutt. “The other finishers were Christopher McGuire in 12th (with a new PR), Tyler Morrison in 20th, and Jesse Hawkins in 26th. The boy’s JV was second overall as a team.”

The varsity boys also had many personal records, along with earning medals.

“On the varsity side, Will Kracaw finished 5th, Christian Olson was 8th (with a PR), and Dylan Nee placed 37th (also with a PR),” said Norcutt.

Sophomore Jeremy Walker had a great first cross country season.

“So far, my cross country season has been a blast,” said Walker. “There’s been mostly ups but some downs, and these downs were great learning experiences. As a team, we have trained really hard and come together like a family. I feel like the work I’ve put in this season has paid off. I have made great improvements in my times, and I have placed really well in all my races. I look forward to ending the season on a great note with my crazy family.”

Becca Kuskie, Jovi Kuskie, Will Kracaw, and Christian Olson will be competing in the NIAA State Cross Country Championships on Friday, November 6.
