After a long season, the varsity football team finished the season 1-8 overall. Their only win came against Dayton on homecoming with an astonishing score of 42-6.
Captain Joe Peterson likes to focus on the positives, such as the win against Dayton on his home turf or how the team grew together at the end of the season.
“Our season wasn’t the best, but I like to look at the positives,” said Peterson. “We had a great game against Dayton, and at the end of the season, our team wasn’t just a team, it was a brotherhood.”
The Bucks played well in many games but simply came up a little short. Through all this, the team managed to stay together and keep fighting throughout the season. They never gave up and went day in and day out working hard, getting better. At the end of the season, you could see the growth that was made as a program.
“I think we worked hard all season and never gave up, even in the worst games,” said Matthew Souza.
The team grew as a whole and developed as the season kept moving. They insisted on getting better every day and looked forward to every game.
“We strived to get better all season and enjoyed going out every Friday to compete with our opponents,” said Souza.
The Bucks never backed down; they stayed in the game from the first to the last whistle. They had no reason to put their heads down. Head coach Taua Cabatbat looks forward to the promise that the team brings in the future.
“Well, the team in general continued to grow and continued to fight. Our season was not what we had anticipated, but this team showed a lot of heart and improvement week-to-week,” said Cabatbat. “They never gave up on themselves or each other. I believe that the football program in general is starting to come up, and we are starting to see good things for the future.”
