Lowry’s homecoming school week ended with a great performance by the Buckaroos.

From the first play of the game, Lowry showed Elko that they didn’t come to mess around.

On Buck’s opening kickoff with Elko to receive the kick Lowry recovered the ball and began their first offensive drive of the game. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 21-0 with Lowry in the lead. Michael Arenas scored to give the bucks a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter.

As soon as Elko had a chance on offense the buck’s Calvin Connors had an interception and soon after Brandon Okuma scored a 1-yard touchdown. Elko had only one offensive play before the bucks had turned over the ball on that drive.

Now for the third chance for Elko to run their offense, they had a turnover yet again caused by Connors intercepting the ball and the bucks had a third drive towards putting points on the board. Calvin had an 11-yard run minutes later leaving the score at 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter produced only a single touchdown for the bucks but still, Elko was scoreless. Connors ran in an 11-yard touchdown early in the second quarter. For the first time in the game, there was a missed field goal kick by Taylor Martin from 20 yards out to end the second quarter.

After the homecoming royalty ceremonies, the game picked back up in the third quarter with the bucks receiving the ball, and least to say they came back showing this was their homecoming. Connors connected with Josh Shaver soon resulting in an 80-yard touchdown putting the bucks up 35-0 after the PAT. After some back-and-forth unsuccessful drives by both teams, the Buck’s Okuma scored a 6-yard touchdown putting Lowry up 41-0 at the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter had no scoring by Lowry but soon enough Elko’s Cody Green scored for the first time in the game with an 8-yard run putting the score at 41-7 final score.

The Buckaroos had over 600 yards of total offense and two turnovers on defense showing some serious skill in their game against Elko. So Lowry had a very successful homecoming and showed Elko who the dominant team in Division 1-A.
