The Lady Bucks are on a roll, finishing 2nd in the league and going 12-4, 21-10 along the way. On the way to the playoffs in Fallon, they did suffer a loss to Yerington 3-1 (25-16, 25-22, 19-25, 25-20).
However, this did not slow Lowry down as they swept Fernley (25-18, 25-21, 25-21) and knocked off Truckee 3-2 (27-25, 25-21, 20-25, 16-25, 15-4) to win the Regional Championship.
Senior Brittany Jacaway credits the team’s success to hard work and a change in attitude.
“There were many improvements made this year. We all actually have the heart for this game; we all strive to win. We have our mind set on winning and doing better every game. I myself changed my mindset and worked harder to become the player I am now,” said Jacaway.
Senior setter Jenny Torres is satisfied with the way her team played this season and looks forward to progressing at state.

“I think our season went and is going great. Lowry volleyball hasn’t been placed this high in a long time, and I’m proud of all of us for it,” said Torres. “We started out really well from the start, and I think as the season went on, we just kept getting better as a team. In the future, I hope we can go to state and overall, get closer and better as a team.”
This is the first time Lowry has gone to state since 2006.
The Buckaroos were undefeated at home this season and only lost the league title to Truckee on tiebreakers.
“The Bucks’ first match at state is today against Moapa Valley at 7:30 p.m.
“I think our season went just as good, if not better than expected,” said Jacaway. “We all have pushed ourselves to get to the point we are at and are hoping to go to state.”
