After suffering two consecutive losses to the Mets in New York, the Cubs return to Wrigley Field on Tuesday with hopes of taking game 3 of the National League Championship Series.
The Mets lead the Cubs two games to none after solid pitching performances by Matt Harvey and Noah Syndergaard; keeping the Cubs to three runs in both games. Daniel Murphy has been swinging the bat well and providing three RBIs and a batting average of .429 thus far in the championship series.
On Tuesday, Jacob deGrom of the Mets and Kyle Hendricks of the Cubs will face off on the mound. While the Cubs may have the home-field advantage, the Mets have the advantage on the mound. Jacob deGrom has posted an ERA of 1.38 in 13 innings pitched on the other hand, Hendricks has a postseason ERA of 5.79 in only 4.2 innings against the Cardinals.
Chicago is in need of a win of this game at their home field to help better their chances of advancing to the World Series. If the Mets beat the Cubs in game 3, it will make it much more difficult for the Cubs to advance after being down 3-0; making Tuesday night’s game a crucial game for both the Cubs and the Mets.
