“12 Years of Slave” is based on an incredible true story of a man fighting for freedom and survival. In the pre-Civil War, Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor) was a free African American man. This movie portrays how life was as a slave during the 1800s.

Sadly, Solomon went through a lot of things in his life. Solomon was abducted and sold into slavery. He was passed around from owner to owner, all of whom treated him poorly.

“12 Years of Slave” shows us how his life was for the past 12 years as a slave. He struggles to stay alive and to keep his dignity. This movie shows us how he had courage and love throughout the movie. The movie creates sadness, love, happiness, tension, and even hope.

This week’s recommendation is to watch “12 Years a Slave”. Others will be able to understand what Solomon went through in his lifetime. Watching this movie will make others feel the same as Solomon. This movie is great; it shows how life can be and how life can change in an instant.
