Fake News: Clowns could show up in Winnemucca as early as Halloween

You may have heard about the clowns roaming the U.S. the last few weeks, but may not have seen one yet. Well, that’s all about to change.

If you have yet to learn about these clowns look no further. For most of the month of October, people have been dressing up as clowns and just walking around or even chasing people. Many videos have hit social media of clowns running into corn fields, chasing people and even just standing motionless in the middle of nowhere. Police in various cities have responded to this issue by telling people not to attack the clowns and to call 911 for help. Recently, as this has become a reoccurring event, the clowns have united to form the Creepy Clown Club (CCC).

The president of this organization who has come to be known as Pennywise recently had an interview with CNN in which he revealed the leaders of the organization along with some of their followers will be doing a tour of the United States. This tour began the first week of October, in Washington and they will make their way down to Oregon, California, and then their fourth stop, Nevada. They will spend one week in each state, so they will be in Nevada the last week of October. It just so happens that they will be traveling through Winnemucca on Halloween, October 31.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is on top of the matter. They are encouraging parents to speak with their children.

According to a statement on the HCSO Facebook page, “Parents, please speak to your kids and if they [sic] taking part in this nonsense, please take care of the problem before they are arrested or worse.”

The statement also gives direction in reporting a clown sighting.

“If you do need to report a creepy clown, please note the important details to us.
What was it wearing (be more detailed then [sic] a “clown”)?
Exactly where it was.
What way was it going?
Was it acting aggressively or making threats?
MOST importantly; Did it have any weapons?”
