This week’s Student-Athlete of the Week for JV baseball is Ren Mattson. He was selected by coach Wil Cooney.
Cooney said, “he threw well, he kept his pitch count down, made solid contact at the plate and he got the job done more than once.”
Mattson said that he is glad to be chosen and it makes him happy to be recognized for the work that he has been putting in.
He also commented on the team’s season. “We’ve had a steady season so far, and we have definitely improved, and we are doing well,” said Mattson.
Mattson also spoke about how the team will continue playing the way they have been. He said that they will keep working hard and will put forth their best effort both during games and at practice.
Mattson and the JV team play their next series against Fallon at home on Friday, April 22 at 3 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday, April 23 at 11 a.m.
