The girls’ JV soccer team’s season is going well, and coach Joelle Cooper is pleased with her team’s record so far.
“Our season is going very well. The girls are starting to really play as a team,” said Cooper. “Our current record is 8-4-1.”
In the team’s latest matchup, they dominated Fallon with a final score of 5-1. They also bested Fernley 2-0.
Coach Cooper said it was her team’s best performance.
“The game against Churchill County was one of the best games the girls have played,” said Cooper. “Their passes and crosses were connecting, and they really communicated. Erin Acosta got the first goal. Kelcey Cooper got two goals that were volleyed in from crosses by Julianna Gonzalez and Erin Acosta. Julianna Gonzales got the other two goals with assists from Cooper and Lili Garcia. We defeated Churchill County 5-1.”
The girls are prepared for their next game against Truckee and are looking for another win to add to the record.
“The team would really like to get a win against Truckee,” Cooper said. “The team has been working hard on communicating, switching the field, and playing the ball to feet. We have had several players help out by stepping into different positions, as we currently have four injured players. It truly has been a complete team effort every time the girls step onto the field.”

Joelle is very impressed with goalkeeper Hannah Growcock.
“Hannah Growcock is by far the best goalkeeper in the league,” said Cooper. “She has had 77 saves on the season so far. Our team is so lucky to have her protecting that net.”
