This past Tuesday the freshman girls played Elko, their biggest game of the season considering the Winnemucca-Elko rivalry.

Ana Gonzalez said, “This game is going to be a test of how well we’ve prepared and how well we execute.”

The Lady Bucks got off to a fast start pulling away but Elko kept the game within reach. Once the fourth quarter came around the Bucks had a good lead and held them off to win by a final score of 51-39.

Gonzalez said afterward, “This game was really intense, the Elko girls came to play and gave us a challenge. Our team definitely improved on offense and also the defensive side of the ball as well. Overall both teams played really well and we were able to come up on top.”

Caitlynn Cooper led the team in scoring with 30 points.

The freshman girl’s next game will be Friday against the Fernley Vaqueros.
