A look back at JV baseball’s successful season

The JV baseball team had a terrific season, finishing with a record of 16-4-1. The team out-matched most of its competitors. Although at times the team’s defense fell apart for a while, the Bucks managed to stay together as a team and pull themselves out of tough situations, the team never gave up and they never brought any teammates down.

“It was an awesome season, these guys have a bright future. Probably the highlight of the season was taking five out of six from Spring Creek and Elko. For JV ball these guys played very good ball,” said Coach Clay Sagers. “Pitching was good, hitting was good, these guys have a very bright future.”

“For me being in the program as long as I have, I’ve seen the bottom end, and then I saw this season’s team. To have enough players at the varsity level and still have a successful season at the JV level is pretty special,” said Coach Don Walton. “If you take a look at the last four JV seasons, we have started winning a lot more games than we did at one time. It was special, it was a lot of fun working with the kids. It makes it fun when we win obviously but this year is a special group of kids.”

“It was a very fun season. We played well,” said Cameron Okuma.

There were many certificates and awards were given out at the JV baseball banquet. Cameron Okuma won the “Most Improved” player award. Sterling Dennis and Garrett Naveran won the “Dirt Bag” awards. And Mickey Donovan won the “Player of the Year” award.
