Adam Gray is known as one of Lowry’s cross country stars. He excelled this season and placed first in 3A Zone Cross Country in Reno. Overall cross country is clearly Gray’s favorite sport and this season was his best. Gray says he has waited for this his whole high school career and he is pleased with the turnout.

“I basically just pulled it out [talent] and saw what I could do with it,” said Gray.

The whole season led up to the 3A State race at Rancho San Rafael Park in Reno. Gray placed third.

“I was okay with my placing but I know I could have done better,” said Gray in response to his race.

Gray went through the whole season undefeated in all races but two.

“State and North Tahoe were my only undefeated races,” said Gray.

Zone was Gray’s best race, “I felt strong throughout the whole race.”

Getting third at state was disappointing for Gray because he knew he could have done better. Being a captain Gray tries to keep everyone in the right mindset.

“Cross country is a mental sport so I try to keep everyone confident,” said Gray.

After high school, Gray wants to be able to take cross country with him. He has received some offers from colleges. Gray was extremely pleased with his team this year.

“The boy’s team was probably the strongest team I have ever been a part of,” said Gray.

Gray thinks the coaches are the reason for their amazing winning streak.

“We have a really good relationship with our coaches than other teams do,” said Gray. Gray ended his season of cross country with another state title that is the seventh consecutive for Lowry.
