Baseball gets win over Warriors

On April 1, 2010, the Lowry baseball team competed against the Whitell Warriors of Zephyr Cove and took the victory in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Bucks took a 2-1 lead in the first inning when David Eastman scored on an RBI off of Anders Pace, and Pace scored on a Run Batted In (RBI) by Jace Billingsley. The Bucks held the score till the fourth inning when each team scored one run, Lowry’s by Dusty Kraft on an RBI by Jesse Studebaker.

In the top of the fifth, the Bucks lost the lead while giving up four runs. They answered back with two runs by Mitch Pollock scored on an RBI by Pace, and Pace scored on an RBI by Anthony Chojnacki, still leaving them behind, 6-5.

They went into the bottom of the sixth where it started with Kraft getting hit by a pitch giving him first base. He received a pinch-runner, Brandon Eastman. Eastman then stole second, and third base. He then stole home by a wild pitch given by the pitcher, tying the game.

In the bottom of the seventh inning was score 6-6. The Bucks started with Pace at bat. He doubled on the 2-2 pitch and then was moved to third by an overthrow by the centerfielder. Chojnacki walked and was replaced by pinch-runner, Tyler Brumm. On the first pitch to Billingsley, Brumm stole second, now having two runners in scoring position. On the second pitch, Billingsley hit a ball right past the shortstop to knock in the two runs giving Lowry the victory in the bottom of the seventh 8-7.

Lowry only pitched two pitchers, Kraft who had seven strikeouts and one walk, and Bryan Noble that had four strikeouts and two walks.
