In Fallon on Friday Lowry jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but things slowly got out of hand after that.
“Our pitching was strong overall, but we didn’t have a solid defense behind that pitching and with a hitting team like Fallon we really needed one. We have the ability to compete with Fallon, but our performances at the plate, took us out of the game,” said Mickey Donovan.
The Bucks ended the game Friday with a loss of 19-6.
On Saturday the Bucks were looking to change the outcome of their first game Saturday by having Brian Shettler start on the mound.
“This weekend we played the Fallon Greenwave and we came out on the field believing we could win. We jumped ahead but then had some mental and physical laps that continued throughout the entire series that would put us in bad situations that we couldn’t get out of,” said Brian Shettler.
The team however couldn’t get the bats going which led to them getting one run to the Fallon’s ten. Lowry went to a senior on the mound as Kyle Schultz started the second game on Saturday. Schultz managed to keep the Greenwave offense in check. However, that didn’t help the Bucks because again Lowry couldn’t get the bats going.
“Overall we had an alright weekend. From these games, I see some things that the team needs to improve on. The main thing that we need to improve on is not being content with the lead we have in a game and adding more runs. We can also improve on our hitting, such as better pitches to swing at and having more patience at the plate. If we can improve in these two areas I believe that we can end our season on a positive note,” said Kyle Schultz.
The Bucks will be playing at home on Thursday and Friday against Truckee. Thursday’s game will be a special one as Lowry pays tribute to all the seniors on the baseball team.
