Over the weekend the JV baseball team played a two-game set and lost both games, 10-0 and 23-2.
Sophomore and captain Ren Mattson talked about how the games went.
“We couldn’t hit the top half of the ball consistently and couldn’t bring the few runners around the bases once they got on base,” Mattson said.
Mattson said that the team did not put anything significant together. He said that individually, some players did well but as a whole, the team didn’t play as well as they should have.
Mattson commented on how this season has been.
“Other than a few of our games, we’ve had a progressive season. We have definitely come a long way since the beginning of the season,” Mattson stated.
Freshman Jimmy Rackley gave his opinion of how the team played, “Well I think we could have played tons better and we were just not into the games. We made Fallon seem like a team that they are not and our team like a team that we are not. There will for sure be a lot of things to work on this week.”
Rackley, as well as Mattson, noticed that they did not hit the top half of the ball well. He believes that over the week, the team needs to work on that. He also stated that they should work on specific things on defense such as cutoffs and balls hit right at them.
As for the upcoming games, Rackley thinks that they have a tough schedule. The team expects Truckee to be a good team, but he believes that if they do what they need to do in practice they should be able to compete.
The JV team’s next games are away against Truckee on April 30.
