This year’s boys’ golf team is preparing for their season. The team has a total of 12 players: 10 new golfers (Edward Jones, Jacob Ball, Abraham Toscano-Ramirez, Reid Bishop, Isaac Bryant, Isaiah Chavez, Carlos Gomez, Andrew Mendoza, Logan Pointon, and Cristian Vazquez) and two returners from last year (Maddex Hislop and Tate Rost).
Coach Andrew Meyer is thrilled about the turnout of players this year. He is ready to teach these athletes how to love the game of golf.
“I’m excited about how many members came out,” said Coach Meyer. “We have a lot of youth this year coming.”
The returning player, junior Maddex Hislop, is also excited about the number of new players this year. He is ready to take charge and help his team succeed this season.
“I am excited to see the team grow this year,” said Hislop. “It’s going to be a building year for the team because of all our new players this year.”
Sophomore Tate Rost is another returning player this season. He is excited to be around his teammates again and travel to the beautiful golf courses around Northern Nevada.
“My goal this year is to get better at my short game, but I am most excited to travel with my teammates again,” said Rost.
Coach Meyer’s main goal this season is to get as many golfers to state as possible. He has many drills prepared to get his athletes prepared for the season.
“My main goal this year is to get as many of the kids to the state tournament as possible,” said Coach Meyer. “I want to teach them the right way to do golf.”
Hislop was one of the golfers who qualified for state last year. This year, he is extremely motivated to win state.
“My main goal this year is to win state this year,” said Hislop. “I have already been at the course for weeks, preparing for this season.”
