Cross Country Athlete of the Week: Ivan Roa

This week, Ivan Roa was chosen by coach Cabada for his multiple contributions to the cross country team. Roa is a great teammate and example for his team.

“He works well with the other teammates and motivates them by example,” said coach Renteria. “He is not afraid to step up and help out whenever necessary.”

Roa is very committed to cross country and even continues to work hard during the off-season to become better. His commitment and determination for his sport pay off and make him one of the top athletes on the team.

Recently, the team competed in the Nevada Twilight Cross Country Classic in Reno, where Roa displayed his skill, finishing 30th out of 82 participants, and 7th among the schools in Lowry’s league.

“I just always work my hardest, no matter how injured I am,” said Roa.

Roa enjoys running long distances every day and believes that he is more of a follower on the team, although his coach says otherwise.

“Ivan knows where he stands, what it takes, and is working daily to close the gap to ensure strong competition throughout the season and into regionals,” said coach Renteria.
