The cross country team pushed through yet another season phenomenally. This year’s team consisted of runners Brooklyn Swensen, Natalia Cassinelli, Mariah Ramos, Lennox Zebroski, Finn Baldwin, Jace Frydendall, and Keaton Kenison who were coached by Larry Renteria.
Mariah Ramos, a junior, enjoyed her time on the team and saw a lot of progress developed throughout the season.
“My experience was honestly really good,” said Ramos. “It was a lot of work but I had amazing coaches to guide me through it and when you got into shape it really wasn’t that bad.”
Ramos specifically enjoyed the athletic lifestyle cross country provides.
“My favorite thing about cross country was definitely the amount of exercise in my life because it felt really good to just be able to run,” said Ramos.
A sophomore Brooklyn Swensen excelled beyond standards and advanced to the state championship in Reno, Nevada. Coach Larry Renteria had a wonderful season and enjoyed all the new faces that were added to the team.
“The season went great,” said Renteria. “We added several new faces to the team and each and every athlete continued to work hard and improve throughout the season.”
Renteria enjoys the companionship between his runners as well as how hard they work to accomplish their goals. “The main reason I started being a part of cross country is because just working with the incredible athletes and being a part of their personal and physical growth is really fulfilling,” said Renteria.
