This season went great for the cross country athletes. They faced many challenges, but they overcame them to attend the Nevada State Cross Country Championships in Boulder City. The assistant cross country coach, Larry Renteria, was very proud of his athletes and their major accomplishments.
“The season started out with a group of students who wanted to participate in athletics and ended with a great group of people who are incredible student-athletes,” said Renteria.
Alyla Thomas enjoyed her cross country season and made many great memories.
“Cross country was where I met some of my best friends,” said Thomas.
Thomas is proud of the accomplishments she made throughout the season and she plans to continue doing cross country and making more great achievements.
“Cross country made me feel happy and safe,” said Thomas.
Renteria witnessed the many challenges the boys faced during their season, but he has also witnessed them overcome these challenges and make great achievements.
“Unfortunately, the boys’ team suffered some setbacks and challenges to overcome,” said Renteria. “but the individuals still accomplished some amazing feats and created a season full of great accomplishments and memories capped off by being crowned the Cross Country Academic State Champions.”
The girls had a great season and made huge improvements throughout it. They overcame illnesses and injuries, which led to their competing in the state championship.
“The girls were able to stay healthy and keep the team intact,” said Renteria. “They strived to improve each week, and the results were obvious.”
Natalia Cassinelli believes she had a great cross country season. She faced some challenges, but still had a great time competing with her teammates.
“This season was a really fun and exciting experience,” said Cassinelli.
Cassinelli is proud of what she accomplished during the season and she looks forward to competing in the future.
“I feel like I did really well this season and I think I’ll be able to make more improvements in future seasons,” said Cassinelli.
