Basketball season has officially started and the girls’ freshman team has expectations they hope to achieve during the 2024-2025 season.
Freshman Maite Bengochea is excited to play a sport she loves with her teammates and make memories while traveling and on the court.
“I’m excited to travel and be with my friends and teammates basketball is something I played for a while, and I’m excited to be with a new team and my main goal is to win this season and make memories,” said Bengochea.
Savannah Ortiz is excited to play with her new teammates and hopes they will work together and prove it while playing.
“I’m very excited to be with my new team and to show all the hard work we put in at practice and outside of that. I’m learning to work together with my new team and I really hope we play as the team we can be.”
That excitement doesn’t end just with the girls. Coach Larry Renteria is hopeful for this season, especially with a new team of freshmen his goals are to show off every one of the girl’s skills and help them grow into players as they continue with basketball.
“As freshmen, we have a wide range of abilities, so personally, I want to structure practice to meet the needs of each player at their level while making improvements on the team each week,” said coach Larry Renteria.
