The annual Winterfest dodgeball tournament ended in excitement on January 30, when the Dodgeballers won the championship game with only one man left on the court.
With five opponents left to face, sophomore, Jace Mentaberry pulled his team through for a win with an action-packed crusade, in which he picked off all five players.
“It was crazy how Jace came back,” said senior, Nathan Perkinson. “The best part of the tournament was definitely how we won when Jace was the last person.”
“Being the only person out on the court was pretty nerve-racking,” Mentaberry said.
Throughout the competition, the teams faced stiff competition.
“The competition was very equal,” said Perkinson. “Yes, there were some teams that were a little bigger, but they were placed against teams with the same amount of people.”
Lowry’s dodgeball tournament takes place every year during the week of Winterfest, and every year different people sign up for different reasons.
“We signed up for the tournament so we could show school spirit, and that we could compete, and just have fun,” said Mentaberry.
