Brayden Jensen, a sophomore at Lowry, is finally coming out with his biggest secret, he pays for his compliments and friends. Let’s give a little backstory here. Jensen was always the most popular kid. He was used to everyone wanting to be him or be his friend.
“I was the cooler kid in the world growing up. I didn’t care about anyone but everyone cared about me. I had a large group of obedient followers,” shared Jensen.
Jensen was quite used to his popularity and constant praise by his “followers” then when he hit his awkward phase he didn’t know how to handle it.
“My empire fell apart. All this sudden I still had a high voice unlike the other guys. People stopped liking me and I began to have no friends,” said Jensen.
Jensen went through his freshman year more awkward than ever and then going into sophomore year he decided to do something about it. He started paying kids to compliment and praise him daily. If he got a B on a test he had someone there to say “Wow Brayden! Nice job you’re such a good student” and at random points throughout the day people would say “Your hair looks so great today” or “Nice outfit dude, way to be stylin”.
There are five students who he pays $25 a month. In the last two years, he has spent $2000 paying for these praises. Who knows how much longer this will continue before he goes broke or gets some friends on his own.
