Fake News: LHS student doesn’t have cellphone; lives normal life

In a story that was brought to our staff’s attention in early March, Madison Lozano, a sophomore at Lowry High School doesn’t own a cellphone and functions like a psychologically and emotionally healthy human being. Not only that, but Lozano is also a successful student, athlete, employee, and member of society.

“I don’t get what the big deal is, my parents just haven’t bought me one. I’m sure I’ll have one eventually,” said a confused Lozano.

While Lozano certainly minimizes this remarkable phenomenon, her peers are bewildered, to say the least.

“I’ve been friends with Madi for a few years now so you can imagine the state of shock I was in when I learned the phone number I had been using to contact her was actually her house phone. I always thought it was kind of strange that I had to ask for her when I called sometimes but I would’ve never guessed the astounding truth behind it,” said Lozano’s close friend Matthew Jock.

Jock goes on to explain how much closer they have become since he became aware of this startling fact about Lozano.

“Honestly, I could barely look at her the same way when I first found out. I couldn’t help but wonder if there were other even more traumatizing secrets about her, like an unseen birth defect or health condition, but after a few weeks I came to terms with it and our friendship has been better for it,” said Jock.
