Fake News: Student fulfills life goal as Walmart greeter

Recently, local student Ryan Magoon has finally accomplished his one true goal and will now be greeting the public at Winnemucca’s very own Walmart. Magoon will now wear the sacred blue vest and has now made a dream, that was realized long ago, a reality.

“It all began at my brother’s wedding a few years back. I stood in the doorway of the old chapel and welcomed my family with the utmost politeness. It wasn’t until I received several compliments from my second cousins and great-uncles regarding my professionalism and congenial attitude that I realized I really had a knack for greeting people. Now I have the honor of greeting people for a career,” said Magoon.

Of course in order to become a greeter, Magoon had to make some sacrifices.

“Sure I was a 4.2 student in high school and excelled in every subject. Sure I had scholarships from Ivy League schools piled high. And sure I could have become a neurologist with ease and made the big bucks. But greeting and checking receipts is my passion, and I will gladly take that over any sum of money, any kind of intensive education, or any of that ‘friends and family’ nonsense,” said Magoon.

Nonetheless, Magoon continues to look to the future and is looking forward to a promising and rewarding career with Walmart.

“My boss told me that if I worked ten hours a day, six days a week, and no paid vacation for the next fifteen-odd years I would be promoted to senior executive greeter, a title that only the best of the best are bestowed with. Honestly, my life has never looked so promising and purposeful until this moment. It brings tears to my eyes,” concluded Magoon.

Best of luck, Ryan! Continue doing what you love and don’t let the people bring you down.
