Fifth year of the Lowry Art/CTE Showcase

Fifth year of the Lowry Art/CTE Showcase

By Courtney Rorex Posted May 20, 2013

I can’t believe this is the fifth year of the Lowry Art/CTE Showcase.

Let’s see if art teacher, Mr. Andy Anderson and his advanced art students will make it rain this year? For the past five years Mr. Anderson and his classes have set out to create sidewalk art; however, the weather has been their nemeses.  So, it is always interesting to see if the sidewalk art survives.  That’s part of the fun. Come check it out.

This is our way of ending the school year.  Lowry students and teachers would like to invite the community to come up and stroll through the campus and visit our classrooms to see the amazing creations your students have created this year.

The Art/CTE staff is so proud of the students’ accomplishments this year; we want you to see them too. While walking from building to building, stop by and purchase garden plants from our very own greenhouse, planted and nurtured by the agriculture classes. View a variety of projects from art, drafting, graphic design, welding, woods, clothing, quilts, and more.

There will be student demonstrations in all areas represented.  Our event will be held on Thursday, May 23. 6-8 p.m. on the Lowry campus. Please stop by Marlene Killion’s room to wish her a happy retirement, she has taught at Lowry High School for thirty years.  She will be greatly missed.

Please feel free to wander through the art, science, and vocational buildings to view works created in the following fields of study: Art, Agriculture, Automotive, Business, Computer, Child Development, Drafting, Foods, Textiles, Woods, and Welding.  Northern Nevada Outdoors Magazine and Winnada- Yearbook will also be available for viewing and purchase.
